About the Photographer
| Bruce B. McDonald, M.D. grew up in Seattle, Washington in the 50s. It was in the Pacific Northwest that he developed his appreciation for nature and all its beauty. Later, while studying chemistry at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, he began his pursuit of photography. Bruce has maintained his lifelong interest in photography and the great outdoors, and seizes every opportunity to further his art through practice and seminars. Although primarily self taught, he has studied with such legendary nature photographers as George Lepp, Gaylen Rowell, Rod Planck, Charles Fontenot and John Jefferson. He is master's level Photoshop trained. An accomplished mountaineer, skier, scuba diver, windsurfer, sailor, rock climber and world traveller, he never misses an opportunity to capture the beauty and excitement of the moment. From the rainforests of the Amazon to the glaciers of Alaska, from the bottom of a coral reef in Bora Bora to the summit of Mt. Whitney, from the steamy charity hospitals of Honduras to the back streets of Istanbul, the camera is his loyal companion. Dr. McDonald closed his surgical practice in Austin in September 2003 and is currently working in underserved areas around the United States, so look for photographs from these locations. He chooses to donate all proceeds of his photography business to medical charities and medical missions. I hope you enjoy these photos. Please feel free to bookmark this site and come back often. |
